The hospital site between Kapucijnenvoer, Minderbroedersstraat and Brusselsestraat embraces an area of more than six hectares. Today an isolated amalgam of buildings from a distant and recent past; tomorrow a sustainable urban district with a balanced mix of housing types. A place where housing, nature and culture merge into a whole that honours the past and embraces the future.

The petrified site will be given a multifaceted interpretation that will attract new residents and functions. To create a dynamic and meaningful city district with open space, public greenery and low traffic. And also a title role for the now still vaulted Dijle arm and remnants of the medieval city walls.

The new site respects and repurposes valuable buildings, seamlessly weaving them into a new inner-city design where it is pleasant to linger. In addition, the public space has been substantially upgraded with image-defining collective greenery. The rundown hospital site that was dominated by care is transformed into a setting for carefree living.
